What happens when one of Reggae and Dancehall's best producers steps out from behind the mixing board and in front of the microphone? My guess is that Dainjamental is the perfect answer to that question. Long known for his work with Cutty Ranks, and literally dozens of other artists in the field... the New Yorker just exploded onto the scene with his debut album "Unexpected" released by Jake Records and New York based Killer Groove, Inc. I shot Dainjamental some questions to get to know 'em better...

Q: Your newly released album "Unexpected" is probably just that, completely unexpected. But its a monster smash hit... from start to finish I loved this album. Where in the world have you been hiding?

A: Well I've been in da game for 18 years as an reggae/hip hop/soca artist and also as a producer/engineer. I went thru the group ting and few deals that went sour I think that my timin' was not mean't to be then but now.

Q: You are signed to Killer Groove and Jake Records. How did your relationship with Killer Groove's Kay Gee come about?

I met Kay Gee back in 2000 @ sam ash music corp in Manhattan, New York while I worked there. He purchased recording gear and I assisted to help him better understand the equipment & also did sum engineering at his studio since then we have remained great friends.

Q: What are you hoping to accomplish with this record? For all intents this is your solo debut... what are your hopes and expectations?

A: I hope for great success & that the masses can enjoy the album!

Q: Who have you worked with in the past?

A: I have worked Hip hop legends & underground greats such as members of the WuTang Clan, Cold Crush Bros., KillArmy, Killah Priest, Shyheim, King Just, Salt of Salt N Pepa, TWF Brucie B and Reggae artists like Rayvon, Gyptian, Cutty Ranks, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Marlon Asher, I Sasha, Khari Kill, Princess Menen & Lyrikal. And also Soca artists like Kevin Lyttles, KMC, Mr. Slaughta, Benjai, Gailann, Maximus Dan, 3 Sunz & D Life of Hot 97.... also heavy metal legends Biohazzard & fr. Japan Hip Hop Legend Macka Chin & reggae legend Butcher.

Q: You're going to have lots of new fans after this record gets out. What do you want to say to them??

A: I hope U all love my music & appreciate the difference in sound & topics I bring to the table.

Dainjamenta's debut album "Unexpected" is in all major online stores now, including iTunes, Rhapsody.com, Amazon.com MP3, LaLa.com and more. The first single from the album, "Make Dem Happy" is being released to radio this week!

Now if you'll excuse me... my tye dye shirt needs to get put in the dryer...
